Accessibility, Equality and Inclusion

At Diseworth C of E Primary School, we are committed to working together to provide a safe, welcoming, inclusive and nuturing environment in which our whole school community is able to be the best they can be and reach their full potential.

The Equality Act 2010, is an important law which ensures protection from discrimination, harassment and victimisation on the grounds of specific characteristics (referred to as protected characteristics). This means that schools cannot discriminate against pupils, staff, parents and carers or treat them less favourably because of their gender, race, disability, religion or belief, sexual identity or pregnancy or maternity.

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to have due regard for the need to:

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
  • Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and people who don't.

Diseworth C of E Primary School is an inclusive school and continually strives to place equal value of everyone in our school community. Everything our school does is fair, non discriminatory and does not put individuals or groups of people at a disadvantage. We seek to remove barriers to learning and improve participation.
