Come and Sing Carols at Church 2019.

Our Christmas performance this year in the church was a huge success. The children worked really hard to learn all the words to the carols and their individual lines. The younger children looked fantastic dressed as the Nativity Scene. Here are some pictures of both our performance in church and of our practice sessions in school.

All the children thoroughly enjoyed their Christmas parties this year including all the games including musical statues, chairs and bumps, pin the nose on Rudolph, the chocolate game and many many more. The children particularly enjoyed receiving the presents that Santa delivered to the school.
For Children in Need this year, we decided to do something a little bit different. We raised money by joining the Nationwide Jo Wicks big move on youtube. We also did something we have never done before, a whole school sponsored chair drumming activity. Although it was extremely loud,, it was so much fun whilst at the same time, raising lots of money for Children in Need.
To free up more room for the children inside the building, we now have a new staffroom. It was very exciting when our new staffroom arrived, especially because a crane arrived to put it into place!
After a great deal of fundraising, we are now starting the new academic year with brand new climbing apparatus. To celebrate, we had a little afternoon tea party and enjoyed trying out the new equipment. We are sure that this new climbing frame will bring years of fun to many children.
At Diseworth School, the children swim every week, throughout the whole year. We are very proud of the children for the progress, confidence and enjoyment they get from swimming each week. The majority of our children achieve some very impressive distance badges and gain Personal survival skills throughout their swimming experience.

Christmas Around the World.

The children put on a fantastic Christmas performance to end 2016. The children took an imaginary trip around the world to see how Christmas is celebrated by different cultures. It was a huge success.

Children of the World.

The children enjoyed a spooky Halloween disco full of fun and laughter. The children report that their favourite part was all the games they had the chance to play. They children also enjoyed the dancing competitions, hot dogs and cakes. We had such good fun and raised money towards FODS. Thank you from all the staff and children to all the parents who helped and donated cakes and sweets.

Long Whatton Cross Country.

A selection of children from school took part in a 1 mile cross country event. All the children tried extremely hard and had a fantastic time.

A piece of history!

The whole school watched Tim Peake launch into space, the first British male astronaut to visit space! It was a very exciting moment!

A visit to Leicester Cathedral.

A group of KS2 children were invited to a special service at the Cathedral in Leicester. We were also lucky enough to see King Richard III's tomb.

Bulb Planting.

The children at school have been busy planting bulbs. We would like to say a big thank you to 'Plantiflor' for donating a selection of bulbs to us. We are looking forward to watching them grow.

Discovering Diseworth!

The whole school have thoroughly enjoyed their week long topic of Discovering Diseworth. In groups, the children became Historians and Geographers. We enjoyed using the village trail map to find our way around and discover the history of the village. We looked in detail at the shops which used to exist, the history of the church and the school now and then.

Climbing wall arrives on the playground!

The Children at Diseworth recently were all involved in a series of challenge days involving setting up mountain camps, overcoming worries and fears, working together as a team, and seeing how high the children could climb as a school.  Everyone had lots of fun.
